As a native of Texas, Sam was raised in a large family where God was the central focus. He graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School, where he played sports and excelled academically. He pursued a bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. It was during this time, while working part-time, that he met his bride, Sonya Smith. Samuel and Sonya have been married for 38 years and have 2 adult children, Samuel II and Samone. They have 3 grandchildren — Sean, Skylar (in heaven), and Samaya.
Being led by God, Samuel completed a dual master’s program at Dallas Baptist University with an MBA in Computer Technology and an MA in Christian Education. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, working out, and improving his computer skills. With God at the helm of his life, Samuel’s greatest goal and desire is to follow Christ, make disciples, and please Him in every way.
